1103 - Fuels Director

This a key position within our clients business. The successful candidate will be tasked with continuing to develop the already successful fuel operations that our client conducts in Afghanistan.

The role is broad in scope encompassing management responsibility for all aspects of our client’s fuel management operations in Afghanistan. This will include operations e.g. the transporting and storing of fuel, cold and hot refuelling, spillage response procedures, emergency disaster planning and response etc and also commercial aspects in developing and winning new business.

You will liaise with various Armed Forces countries personnel, Bulk Fuel Installation personnel, sub contractors and local refineries.

Whilst the position is based in Afghanistan, the successful candidate will be expected to travel frequently to Dubai Head Office and freely throughout Europe, Africa, Middle East and former CIS countries.

Knowledge and Skills:

You should ideally have a military background and have considerable experience in aircraft refuelling and bulk fuel distribution and all associated operational aspects of fuel storage and distribution.

Your knowledge and experience should ideally be supported by having attended courses at The Royal Logistics School of Petroleum based at West Moors, Dorset. England or equivalent.

You should have a professional demeanour, absolute integrity quietly commanding immediate genuine respect. You will have the ability to absorb, interpret, and practically apply large quantities of information toward quick and effective decision-making in a fast-paced operational environment.

You will have excellent organisational skills and analysis skills providing the ability to collaborate quickly with geographically separated staff for effective decision making and information sharing.

You should be loyal to the organization during a period of growth and change – this is intended to be a very long-term relationship.

You will have physical stamina and psychological strength with the ability and desire to work in a 24-hour a day operational environment which includes being accessible and available at odd hours frequently (daily).

You should be fluent in English. (Some Dari / Pashtu and Russian are desirable but not essential).

You should have the ability to integrate oneself seamlessly into our clients existing company management structure and rapidly become an effective member of our clients senior team.

You should have proven ability to work unsupervised in difficult conditions having developed a thorough understanding of our clients business such that the CEO will quickly have confidence in the position holder’s decision making process.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and have a strong attention to detail and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
