Blackpool Borough Council

Blackpool’s vision is to create a ‘World Class Resort’ and we have ambitious plans to transform the town into a vibrant, modern seaside resort and a great place to live and visit. After years of steady decline we are successfully addressing a number of physical, social and economic challenges. One of the Council’s key priorities is to continue to improve services for the more vulnerable people within our communities, to ensure quality, accessibility, value for money and best practice.

An outstanding opportunity now exists for an exceptional senior manager to lead the commissioning process for services to older people and vulnerable adults. Reporting to the Executive Director Adult Social Care and Housing, you will review our existing commissioning plans and develop new strategies for re-profiling and improving service delivery. As a member of the senior management team, you will contribute to corporate initiatives and work closely with partners in other departments and organisations to promote service developments which enhance the quality of people’s lives.

We are looking for a progressive and inspirational leader with a pragmatic approach and the ability to convert strategic plans into practical and effective actions. With a sharp analytical mind and sound financial management skills, you will have a solid understanding of the commissioning process and key policy issues affecting local authorities and health. Demonstrable success in improving service delivery is crucial in this role, allied to the ability to engage constructively and work collaboratively with a broad range of contacts and to develop sustainable relationships.
