Rate: £55K (per year) + Relocation, final salary pension, 28 days holiday,
To support sponsors (business, programme and project) in producing compelling and robust business cases
Key accountabilities
To support sponsors (business, programme and project) in producing compelling and robust business cases
Develop and continuously improve company business case development and management capabilities
To work with the PIR/PRB secretary to develop overview of programmes, projects and associated dependencies and relationships
Provide independent review of company propositions and projects in support of the company and MoD gate process
Responsibilities
Provide author support to Project Sponsors in developing business cases ensuring that:
1. a robust and compelling case is made
2. business case process and preparation meet company and MoD standards
3. appropriate internal standards are developed and achieved
Provide independent review of project and commercial proposals as required to ensure that
1. the scope provides the best value solution to the requirements
2. the scope, schedule and cost are all soundly based and controlled
3. risks are fully understood and managed
4. the commercial position is sound
5. there is a smooth passage through the investment appraisal process (company and MoD)
Advise Head of Project Sponsorship Scrutiny on the consistent application of appropriate standards
Support project sponsors and project managers from earliest stages of a project helping to understand and develop strategies and advise accordingly of any concerns
Liaise with NWIPT and PFG on investment appraisal, sanctioning and internal process
Qualifications
Membership of a professional body is desirable
Business management degree or equivalent is desirable
Knowledge
Extensive knowledge of business case development and its scrutiny and marketing
Experience
Extensive post qualification experience including experience in a major technical projects environment
Preparation of commercial and technical proposals up to £10M in value with high degrees of complexity
Accounting/project management experience
Significant project accounting experience
Proven project management experience
Experience of the MOD process is desirable
Skills
Needs sound judgement to be able to make objective decisions based on complex sets of information and data
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential in the frequent dealings with Directors and Business Leaders.
Excellent influencing skills; advice needs to be respected because of ability and experience
