DS Smith Plc is a highly successful, market leading organisation with an annual turnover of £5billion and employs 20,000 people. The recent acquisition of SCA Packaging will further strengthen its European presence and support its strategy to become the leading international supplier of recycled packaging for consumer goods.
Following a recent restructure, a rare opportunity has arisen to join the management team at a flagship, state of the art, high volume, printed corrugated packaging manufacturing site in Fordham, which employs 170 people. Currently attracting further investment, the site is entering an exciting stage of development which will result in increased production complexity, greater innovation and further growth.
In order to assist in the change management process, the company requires a candidate with the expertise and gravitas to be able to make improvements across the internal business value stream, from sales and order intake, through planning and manufacturing, to despatch and customer delivery, with the ultimate aim of driving front end quality to deliver business improvement in all areas, increase efficiency, reduce costs, and delight and exceed customer expectations.
Reporting to the site Operations Director, you will be responsible for the management and development of a small quality systems/assurance team, working closely with multi-disciplined teams across the internal business, leading improvement initiatives to achieve business objectives. Through your quality team, the management of Quality (ISO9001), Environment (ISO14001) and Hygiene (BRC/IoP) accreditations will also form part of the role.
Educated to a high standard, candidates will have a proven track record in CI leadership, gained in a progressive, fast moving, manufacturing environment and ideally have an understanding of Quality management systems. Experience will be supported by a strong Lean toolbox (theoretical and practical) and demonstrable success in delivering improvements across all business areas.
