Business Development Manager

An excellent opportunity to join a leading provider of technology driven facilities and energy management solutions as a Business Development Manager.
The main responsibility of the Business Development Manager role is to identify, develop and convert new business opportunities in line with individual sales targets and business objectives.
The key responsibilities of the Business Development Manager include:
- Identifies and targets new business opportunities within particular market sectors and / or geographical regions in line with the business strategy.
- Leads sales pipeline development process: relationship development, ‘to market' process management (PQQ, RFI, RFP, proposal, negotiated).
- Identifies and understands client's specific key drivers and develops solutions for success, leveraging the company's capabilities and USPs (e.g. cost, sector experience, coverage, energy).
- Ensures internal governance is adhered to; management reporting and authorisation processes.
- Balanced focus across sales process elements; pipeline development, formal processes (RFI / RFP), sales conversion, post-award and internal governance.
- Provides continual feedback and guidance to local and wider business support and management functions; engages business at all levels.
- Works within a combination of dynamic individual (pipeline and relationship development) and a more structured team environment (process management coordinated with supporting team and governance procedures).
- Continual communication and interaction with leadership team to ensure alignment with the business sales strategy plus direct line management and support team functions within the commercial department.
- Key challenges are understanding the client requirements, time-frames and drivers for change and communicating those within the business to ensue alignment with sales strategy, executive support / sponsorship and resource availability. A dynamic approach to ensure focus encompasses short, medium and long-term prospects in order to give continuity and visibility of sales pipeline.
- Works at a high level across a number of business functions and engages in a wide range of complex issues.
- Also responsible for the specific detail within the sales processes and generated outcomes (cost, documentation, presentation).
The successful Business Development Manager will be degree educated or equivalent and have recognised industry memberships (e.g. BIFM / CIBSE). A proven track record within the FM / building services industry in senior sales roles (business development manager / commercial manager / business development director)
