BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – Electrical Wholesalers
We seek an experienced sales professional with strong contacts/experience at head office/group level within the Electrical Wholesale channel. A significant track record in delivering sales growth and new business from within the UK and R.O.I Electrical Wholesale markets is pre-requisite and we would also like to see some exposure to larger end user trade prospects. You will be required to maximise revenues/margin contribution from existing and new customers via professional sales and account management activities to achieve set monthly and quarterly financial & productivity goals.
The Role
• Proactively engage with electrical wholesalers channel and specified end user trade prospects to help create new business opportunities and drive sales
• Understand customer needs to identify, develop and close tactical and long term strategic revenue opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships at all levels with key prospects personnel, especially the Principal, Buyer and Sales teams.
• Review relationships with low spending existing resellers and take necessary steps to turn relationship into a more productive one.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of key activities within each customer; conduct regular status and strategy meetings with the individual customer's senior management.
• Negotiate prices and rebate schemes to maximize sales and retained margins.
• Attend exhibitions and events where required to showcase the company products and services.
• Liaise with the Internal Account Managers to support sales process
• Ensure day-to-day issues are being resolved in a timely and efficient manner by internal staff, and work closely with all departments to present a unified, consistent proposition to resellers.
• Ensure resellers fully comply with Terms and Conditions, including payment terms - all commercial matters.
The Person
• A minimum of 5 years experience and a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets selling in to the electrical wholesale industry.
• Commercially aware, with a sound understanding of resellers and channel business models.
• Excellent verbal / written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and negotiation skills.
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to tailor messages to suite your audience.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels both internally and externally to the company.
• Able to think strategically as well as tactically and will have played a strong part in defining the direction and product development requirements of the previous businesses you have worked for.
