The company:

World leader in Satellite Communications Systems.

An experienced manager with a strong background in business improvement techniques is required to lead an improvement initiative for advanced telecommunications payloads.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the application of business/process improvement methodologies in a procurement or production environment.

The candidate will also have strong leadership, communication and organisational qualities, with an ability to interface and influence at all levels, both with external suppliers and within the company to director level.

Knowledge and experience of the tools associated with process improvements, management of change and demand management would be an advantage.

There will be potential for progression to a senior programme management or functional management role after a period in the Improvement role.

Specific tasks will include the following :
Leadership of the Telecom Payload Improvement Plan focused on achieving a substantial and challenging improvement in payload competitivity within a one to two year period.
Preparation and management of a detailed programme plan, including schedule, milestones and costs
Implementation of the programme working closely with stakeholders within the company (including senior management) and with key external suppliers
Communication of the improvement initiative within the Telecom division and more widely in the UK to enhance the perception and knowledge of the improvement plan.
Demonstration of the savings achieved and incorporation into the payload cost models.
Actively promote change, and encourage, support and drive all initiatives to improve competitivity
Undertake specific improvement tasks.

Experience required:
Essential:
A demonstrated high level of competence and proficiency in the application of business/process improvement methodologies in a procurement or production environment.
Proven ability to interface effectively with suppliers/subcontractors and with senior management.

Desirable:
Experience in the space, aerospace or defence industries.

Tools/Equipment
Mandatory:
PC literate, MS Office

Desirable:
Working knowledge of 'lean tools' and change management.
Ability to prepare smart presentations.

Qualifications:
Essential:
Degree in relevant Engineering or Business Management discipline.
Highly motivated with strong leadership, communication and organisational qualities.

Desirable:
Higher relevant technical or management qualification (eg MBA).
Knowledge of telecommunications payloads would be a distinct advantage.

Personal Qualities:
Strong management and leadership qualities.
Well organised, communicative and determined, with the ability to work on own initiative

The successful candidate will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
