Business Manager – Rail

My client is a Critical Systems Consultancy working across the Rail, Defence & Aerospace, Nuclear and Air Traffic Management Sectors. Service punctuality, reducing congestion, quicker journey times and improved safety and reliability are some of the transport challenges faced by the government and private sector. At the same time value for money and on-time project delivery are expected. The role of my clients, software intensive systems continues to grow in importance as the industry moves to meet these challenges. The business now seeks a Business Manager to grow the Rail business stream.
The Role
The Business Manager will win new business for the Company with new and existing customers and develop existing business, through direct consultancy based selling in the relevant sector. Formulate and build robust and client orientated relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and build the reputation of the Company in this sector.
Responsibilities
· To win profitable business for the Company, either from existing or new clients and build sustainable and long relationships that encourage repeat business. Understand the relationship between sales and margin.
· Prepare revenue forecasts of pipelined and expected business and projections from previous results, formulating and agreeing targets with Sector Director and meeting them.
· Responsible for maintaining client relationships and building a network of clients such that Clients are constantly made aware of the Company offering and proactively helping the Company build a credible and viable relationship with all clients.
Build a credible pipeline and maintain it.
· Develop a positive and team orientated relationship with the Sector Director and others within the sales team, supporting, updating and sharing information such that leads can be developed across the team. Treat other sales team members with integrity and with the overall “good” of the Company in mind
· Have a clear understanding and clarity of the climate that clients and the industry sector are operating within.
· Understand and “buy-in” to the organisational strategy and develop client relationships in line with this.
Experience
You will have extensive experience in consultancy/solution based selling in the rail sector and a proven track record in selling, bringing a network of clients with you. We are ideally looking for someone who is already meeting targets of over £1.5m. The successful candidate must be a creative person who can develop and implement original ideas. In particular, the candidate must be one who develops multiple paths to success rather than accepting the risk of relying on one.
