Business Objects Specialist (Contract and Perm)
Birmingham - Midlands (East)
To perform tasks assigned by the Project Manager and other senior members of the project team.
To become thoroughly acquainted with the reporting and data mining system, the databases and the system’s applications (with formal training where appropriate).
To assist in the implementation and testing of the RDS.
To carry out the design, production and testing of reports, Universes and ETL.
To participate in the design and gain a thorough understanding of the standards and processes.
Managed Service:
To gather requirements, design, produce and test new reports (Standard and Ad-hoc), Universes, ETL, warehouses and data marts.
To monitor and maintain the performance of the RDS and Data Mining applications.
To manage application upgrades, patches and fixes.
To liaise with the suppliers of the applications to handle problems and bugs.
To participate in incident management.
To assist the Junior RDA Specialists.
To fill in for the Junior RDA Specialists during periods of sickness and holidays.
To work to the Standards and Procedures and help to improve them.
Will be people with good team skills.
Good customer services skills are essential.
Must have attended a range of Business Objects 6 or XI design and development training.
Skills must include ETL Design, Universe Design, Report Design (WebI and Crystal), Data Mart Design.
Prior SC Clearance is desirable for perm applicants and current SC clearance is essential for contract resource.
The person must know of no reason why they would fail an SC Check. Offers and start date dependent on achieving full SC clearance.
Must be experienced in business intelligence applications (5 years).
Must have worked on at least three Business Objects implementations, including at least one using Business Objects XI.
A knowledge of SAS Data Mining is desirable.
Must be experienced in Oracle databases and have worked with Oracle 9i or 10g.
Previous Central Government experience is desirable.
