Category Manager - Construction

Supports the Senior Category Manager with the European technology company in managing the client’s construction procurement spend, predominantly around the data centre environment, which is focused on construction and M&E projects and other commercially critical operational expenditure
Undertake/build a procurement strategy to deliver a measurable and robust supply chain that will control cost, time, promote competition and safeguard supply capacity on data centre projects and specialised M&E plant to and agreed time frames across Europe with a low business risk
Work closely the external Quantity Surveyor
Champion /implement awareness of procurement best practice & EU procurement legislation non-compliance
Ensures effective procurement of construction products and services
Provides a centre of commercial expertise to internal stakeholders and formulates strategies/ for Framework Agreements
Have a sound knowledge of construction materials, markets and suppliers preferably from a construction background with experience of data centres.
Full understanding of M&E critical plant items, suppliers and markets assessments and changes
Manages tender process from specification stage to the final contract award.
Solicits /evaluates competitive bids, economies of scale, cost-effective sourcing, hedging for currency, terms and conditions of service, maintaining supplier relations etc.
Responsible for the whole procurement lifecycle
Have an in depth knowledge of construction contracts and contract law (insurance, ISO, quality and credit assurance)
Have excellent negotiation, analytical and reporting skills
CSR aware, knowledge of Green initiatives
Educated to degree level or equivalent preferably in a construction or property related discipline, Member of professionally recognised body e.g. CIPS, RICS
Frequent European travel
