A superb opportunity for a senior and strategic individual with a strong Systems Engineering and communications background to become a key player in a pioneering, high-technology company. Our rapidly expanding client is currently in the early stages of some of the UK's largest and most advanced communications systems programmes as such there is scope to influence the direction of future technologies and business objectives.
ROLE - Working at the forefront of technology and innovation, this business unit is a significant contributor to the company growth strategy. Reporting into the Programme Director the successful Chief Engineering Manager will take full responsibility for leading the engineering team on a programme, and ensuring that the technical solution is developed, designed and implemented in a timely, cost efficient manner that will meet the needs of the programme. As the ultimate programme Design Authority the Chief Engineering Manager is accountable for all aspects of engineering performance to deliver an affordable system design (i.e. "design to cost") and a qualified solution compliant to schedule, costs and requirements flowed down from the contracts. Applying both Project Management and System of Systems Engineering skills the Chief Engineering Manager will ensure that the specialist engineering functions are brought together to produce the programme deliverables.
CANDIDATE - The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a degree in an engineering subject, with a higher degree in systems technology or communications highly beneficial. You will possess a minimum of 10+ years experience in the management of the complete Systems Engineering lifecycle; from defining the strategy for engineering delivery and the leadership through to ensuring that the specialist engineering teams are brought together effectively and managed to deliver the engineering content of the programme. Your experience will have been gained trough complex Large Scale Systems/ Communications Engineering and Integration Programmes with significant £multi-million budgets in industries such as defence, Emergency Services, Border Control.
