This FTSE 100 Company needs to appoint a CTO who will be a key advisor and partner to the Group CIO. The CTO will contribute to defining the overall IS direction, technology strategies and architectures that will guide technology choices across the enterprise. There will also be the opportunity to research new technologies and lead innovation pilots.

Responsibilities:
• Provide input to the overall IS strategy with particular emphasis on the architecture and technology.
• Work with senior level business stakeholders to build strategy and gain buy-in to change.
• Develop the overall group technology strategy taking into account the legacy estate, the various future business needs and developments on the technology supply side.
• Gain consensus to the Technology Strategy from stakeholders across the enterprise and develop a process for keeping it up-to-date over time.
• Chair the Architecture Group comprised of lead architects from across the business to build process, commonality and consensus.
• Mentor technologists throughout the business and provide a review mechanism for their activities.
• Perform Technology Research on behalf of the Business Units.
• Manage Technology Innovation Proof-of-Concept Projects, in partnership with other IS groups.
• Own the group-wide shared service CTI Voice and Data Architecture. This is a ‘shared service’ provided by the CTO to all UK subsidiaries; the service is maintained internally because it is of strategic importance to the business. This part of the role involves full service delivery, as well as developing the technological platform over time.

Skills and Background required:
• Extensive experience in large-scale, blue chip companies, with a significant portion of this experience in technology-related roles. The requirement is for rounded experience with demonstrable past roles in applications development, Architecture, projects, operations / infrastructure services and commercial.
• Experience gained in environments where there are millions of customers such as banking, utilities or telecoms would be advantageous.
• Man management and good mentoring skills are essential.
• This is not a pure technology role but rather a role where the job holder will be able to articulate and demonstrate how technologies can directly influence the success of the business and then sell this vision to the stakeholders.

You must be a UK / EU National or already be resident in the UK and have a current Work Permit.
