COMMERCIAL MANAGER – FMCG/Durables

We require a dynamic, ambitious an experienced Consumer Product Marketing Manager, ideally with Communications and Sales experience, to head up the commercial aspects of a £30m plus product range. You will define strategies, manage priorities and objectives in order to achieve the budget and develop the brands/product category in conjunction with the sales budget and 3 year plan.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage all areas and aspects of the Marketing mix, namely;
• Suppliers, Customers, NPI, Product Development, Pricing, Trade & Consumer Marketing, PR and Budgeting.
• Work with the appropriate members of the sales team to achieve the budgeted sales and profits for the brands/product category.
• Support and organise exhibitions for both Trade and consumers as required
• Provide direction leadership coaching and support for Brand/Product Manager

Accountabilities:
• Developing the sales and margin strategy with the assistance of Brand/Product Manager and Sales colleagues
• Set and achieve the agreed budget for the Brand/Product category in terms of volume, value and margin.
• Manage the Marketing budget for the respective areas and ensure the effective use of
all spend.
• Management & objective setting of the Brand/Product Manager.
• Development of all new products.
• Ensure the most appropriate product and pricing is achieved in line with the brand strategy.
• Liaise with Purchasing to ensure new suppliers and commercial agreements support the Brand Strategy.
• Responsible for the Marketing strategy of the brands concerned, with regards to: new product development range management, agreement of pricing, volumes & specification of all new products.
• Agree and implement consumer/trade promotional activity in conjunction with the appropriate Channel & Account Manager.
• Forecast demand of all new products on a monthly basis with the Brand/Product Manager & supply planning ensuring the full availability of new products.
• Responsible for base pricing on an ongoing basis for the relevant brands/product category for new and existing products.

Person Specification:

• Strong influencing, negotiation and written communication skills
• Numerate, good excel knowledge, fully IT competent
• Marketing experience within a Consumer FMCG/Durables manufacturing Company
• Experience in NPD/NPI
• Understanding of key customers/suppliers
• Educated to degree level (Marketing or Business)
• Broad commercial Marketing/Sales experience at management level
• Proven leader with experience of coaching and change management
