Country Risk Manager

Our client is a major European financial services organisation, currently looking to hire a Country Risk Manager.

Summary
Develops retail credit risk culture, identifies current & potential problems regarding the assessment of credit risk & key operational aspects of retail credit exposure in order to assure that credit losses are optimized, earnings are maximized & capital is preserved.
Analyzes & monitors the quality of the retail portfolios & retail credit products within sub-region.
Evaluates underwriting process to ensure that proper credit controls are in place to optimize credit risk & fully satisfy safety standards. Support individual business in management of collection process via strategic leadership.

Tasks and Responsibilities
•Coordinate regional approach with the individual markets, guide, support & control in-market activities

•Assist to individual countries in product development/management activities utilising experiences from other countries

•Track, monitor & actively control the bank's lending portfolio in the countries based on budget/portfolio level triggers

•Identify the need for, develop & implement the agreed tracking, monitoring & portfolio management processes & procedures in the sub-region

•Actively support centralization efforts in underwriting & collection areas

•Act as an expert resource & strong voice for both the Segments & local Segment Managers.

•Drive/actively participate regional wide credit risk related projects

•Be the know-how master in selected retail product

Job Specifications
University degree – economics, mathematics, engineering

•Business level command of English, knowledge of CEE language would be an advantage

•Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in portfolio management, focusing on the retail segments (multiple products) in a financial services setting

•Willing to travel extensively from a Vienna base to all markets in Central & Eastern Europe

•Risk conscious yet understanding the importance of rapidly building the portfolio coupled with highest levels of customer service

•Analytical as well as technical skills; Experience in data mining & portfolio analysis is preferred

•Combination of high energy & pleasant personality, analytical thinking & creative problem solving, hands-on line management approach to drive results & consulting, matrix-management support, strong self-initiative

•Proven history of using good planning & process management skills, able to run several projects independently & prioritize within given guidelines

Ability to manage across multiple functional areas as well the ability to influence others at all levels.

Past exposure to multi-market, multi-cultural environment is preferred

•Basel II knowledge/experience is an advantage
