A leading business in combatting shrinkage + Fraud within retail.

My client is now looking to hire the above role due to an organisations re-structure.



Must haves!

Offshore development experience

* You must have a substantial track record in designing and implementing large scale/complex networks and managing multiple vendors.
* You must have direct company or organisation management team experience.

Chief Technical Officer Objectives:


· Advise Management and Council on technical issues
· Provide an environment that fosters technical innovation & personal development
· Management of the IXP operations to deliver a service which is aligned with Membership expectations, setting and measuring key metrics
· Provide a credible "technical face" in communications with external organisations and media
· Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators
· Represent the organisation at various forums supporting the technical and sales objectives
· Support the wider management team on delivery of objectives
· Manage key external equipment suppliers and service providers

Chief Technical Officer Responsibilities:


· Overall responsibility for company technical standards, network design and architecture
· Creation and maintenance of a plan to manage the company through a period of exceptional growth in both members & traffic
· Collaboration with Sales & Marketing on new service opportunities that support the Company Objectives
· Creation of annual technical capital expenditure budgets in consultation with CEO
· Generation of reports on IXP operations to the Board and members
· Management of engineering staff, including management of direct reports in the technical organisation, recruitment of technical staff
· Enable personal development and creation of succession plans
· Evaluation of new technologies, equipment and suppliers
· Selection of suppliers of hardware and software to support the IXP operation
· Lead in-house research, development and testing efforts
· Sponsor and/or lead IXP infrastructure related projects
· Management of relationships with suppliers of exchange point services and equipment utilising key performance indicators to drive improvement
· Represent the company within the IXP, Peering, Internet and wider communities through participation in meetings, conferences and working groups
· Any other duties required for the overall technical and organisational operation of the company

CONTRIBUTION TO MANAGEMENT TEAM:

· Prepare an annual departmental budget, including periodic forecasts and revisions as necessary/requested
· Prepare a Departmental Roadmap for approval, and periodically update this
· Prepare suitable monthly reports, reflecting performance against agreed metrics
· Attend management meetings and contribute to the overall management of the company


DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT:

· Manage a team of around 25 people (as of today, but expected to grow)
