Derivatives Analyst/ Reconciliation Analyst

My client is an international asset management company based in the City, London. We are looking to recruit a Derivatives/ Reconciliation Analyst for the Middle Office on a permanent basis.

Salary: £50k - £60k basic, depending on experience

Purpose of Role
To ensure that appropriate support is provided for the complex products, to ensure that the agreed internal and external operating models (including Front Office, Administrator, Fund accountants and Prime Broker/Custodian) are working effectively and to manage on an exception basis any problems that arise. This will involve liaison with Fund Managers, I.T., Fund Administrators and Fund Accountants, Prime Brokers and Custodians.

Main Responsibilities
• Critically review, assess and manage clearance of breaks for various asset and or cash based reconciliations, including break investigation and clearance, on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure the accuracy of the data within the Front Office decision tools.
• Review the output from various Supplier completed asset and or cash based reconciliations on a daily, weekly and monthly basis; identify any issues and drive these forward to resolution.
• Ensure appropriate steps are taken internally and/or by Supplier to ensure all breaks are resolved within reasonable timescales and notified to the relevant individual(s).
• Develop effective MI reports in conjunction with the Supplier to highlight issues to develop the Supplier to the point where they anticipate our questions and proactively manage this.
• Take direct action to improve and maintain the standard of service provided to the company by the Prime Brokers and Fund Administrators.
• Work with the DMO team to transition support of complex products into an Oversight model.
• Work with Service Delivery and IT to assist in the launch of new products and funds.
• Participate in UAT (user acceptance testing) of new systems and processes.

Skills & Knowledge
• A good understanding of reconciliations; their purpose, how they are performed and the management of breaks.
• Knowledge of investment management operations and multiple asset classes – knowledge of equities, fixed interest securities and derivatives is essential.
• Broad business knowledge across the remaining investment management value chain covering the full trading cycle from Front Office through booking, confirmation, pricing and fund accounting.
• Strong team work and interpersonal skills including the ability to train other team members.
• Ability to gain commitment to changes and new initiatives through good influencing and consultative skills.
