Design Interface Manager

The client is a consortium of major construction companies tasked with the programme management, construction management and construction delivery on this prestigious multi million pound project in London.

The role is to assist in achieving an integrated design related to 4 main packages of this project, working with the Manager of Design Integration, and other Design Interface Managers, Construction Interface Managers and the Design Managers for the individual projects.

The role requires the person to organise and chair design Integration meetings for one of the 4 packages to which the project has been divided. Currently these meetings take place fortnightly but frequency and duration may vary as necessary in response to the number and urgency of the issues being addressed.

You will manage resolution of design interface issues brought to the design Integration area meetings, agreeing which project teams need to be involved in in order to achieving whether or not a workshop needs to be set up to agree how resolution can be achieved.

Your remit will be to establish who shall facilitate the workshop or undertake this task, most often required when a larger number of projects are required to be involved.

Where work towards resolution is undertaken outside of the Design Integration Area Meetings, continue to follow up with the person who has been assigned to lead on that issue to ensure close out in a timely manner. Liaise with other Design Interface Managers on issues which affect more than the one integration area.

Where an issue cannot be resolved between project teams in one of the above ways, elevate the issue to the Manager of Design Interfaces or the Head of Design Management and Engineering who will involve the client resolution as required. Inform Project Controls team of those prospective changes which are to be taken forward. Monitor progress of these through the change control process, assisting with liaison between projects as required.
