Delivering the UK’s first ‘Super Zoo’
Attractive Package
Chester
Owned and operated by the North of England Zoological Society, Chester
Zoo is a leading charity zoo in the UK and a major visitor attraction drawing
over 1.3 million visitors annually. It is wholly committed to its charitable
purpose of conservation in the UK and overseas, as well as supporting
education and science.
With a proposed investment of over £100 million, there are ambitious plans
to transform Chester Zoo into a ‘Super zoo’: a truly world class visitor
attraction which will greatly enhance its ability to conserve biodiversity
worldwide and also promote local economic regeneration.
Reporting to the Director General, Gordon McGregor-Reid, you will be
responsible for directing the proposed ‘Super zoo’ project and developing the
business case. This will involve managing the processes of master planning,
detailed project design and appraisal as well as facilitating stakeholder
engagement to take the project forward to the construction phase in 2010.
You will then orchestrate the delivery of all of the components of the ongoing
project.
An accomplished and experienced team leader, you must have the ability to
influence and collaborate across the whole organisation and be able to
demonstrate a track record of delivering complex construction or infrastructure
related projects. The capability to develop and champion a vision of success
whilst gaining the commitment and motivation of others to achieve the
strategy is essential.
This is a challenging and unique opportunity to play a lead role in one of
Europe’s most respected visitor attractions and to be part of Chester Zoo’s
continuing success and future growth.
