Director of Engineering

My client are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Director for their South coast site. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading, well respected company.

The Director of Engineering will be responsible for motivating, leading and developing an engineering organization that is responsive and capable of efficiently delivering competitive and innovative engineering solutions. Reporting to the VP, the Director of Engineering will play a key role in the business, primarily responsible for the delivery and technical integrity of engineering solutions

Additionally the role will have responsibility for
Providing inspirational leadership to the team of highly motivated development engineers, specialists, systems engineers and managers by enhancing the capability of the organization to deliver the highest levels of team performance.
Driving creativity and innovation within the engineering community with the creation of valuable IP.
Identify opportunity for measurable continuous improvement in the development tools and process to efficiently use development resources to execute projects whilst ensuring adhesion to process discipline and control.
Provide flexible resource management to deliver a range of complex projects as required via a matrix managed development organization.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering will be a team of first line engineering managers, and engineering specialists. This role will require extensive engagement with Engineering Architects, program management, project management, operations overseas development organizations and with customers.

Background
Educated with a relevant degree level in a technical discipline with a strong commercial understanding.
A proven track record of cross discipline engineering, engineering management and project management.
Demonstrated achievement in driving product creation and in following the product life cycle process
Ability to communicate at all levels within the business and with customer senior management.
Willingness to travel, as customers are not based in the UK.
