The Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council is responsible for the allocation of funding (£1.7 bn) across Scotland’s colleges and universities. We invest in learning, research and knowledge exchange in Scotland’s colleges and universities, contributing to Scotland’s economic, cultural and social success.

We are currently seeking a high calibre individual to join us as Director of Research and Innovation. Reporting to the Senior Director Skills, Research and Knowledge Exchange, you will play a pivotal role in leading policy and strategy in these areas. Working in close partnership with Scottish universities, Scottish Government, Scotland’s economic development agencies and research funders, your focus will be on enhancing the global competitiveness of our research base and its impact on productivity in Scotland’s economy -public and private. Politically astute with excellent negotiating, influencing and strategic leadership skills, you will relish the opportunity to play a key ambassadorial role for Scottish research.

To succeed in this high profile post, you must be able to demonstrate an impressive post-doctoral research track record at professorial level, gained in an academic or commercial environment. A strong grasp of the Scottish/ UK research context will be essential in ensuring a high level of credibility in managing key strategic relationships with education partners, government, public and commercial stakeholders.
