The client is a major rail franchise of an international transportation group. They make up to 160 million passenger journeys a year serving a mixture of commuters in the southern regions. A highly recognised brand within the UK rail industry they are looking to recruit a top class Engineering Director to head up an already successful team delivering the maintenance strategy for the current fleet.

It will be your responsibility to drive the delivery of daily engineering performance throughout a large and modern train fleet. Working closely with maintenance contractors and train leasing companies you will be skilled in 3rd party management. This will involve setting challenging targets to meet the needs of the business and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will set targets, seek continuous improvement, manage tight financial budgets and maintain high safety standards.

This will be a highly challenging and rewarding role with a notable rail business and attracts an executive salary and package. Ideally you will be a chartered engineer with a proven track record in fleet engineering or an allied heavy engineering sector. Leading large engineering and operational teams you will be a strong, confident and credible senior manager with the ability to challenge modern fleet engineering issues and deliver in a demanding service led environment.

Knowledge of the rail industry with an appreciation of rolling stock engineering and maintenance would be ideal however candidates with knowledge of maintenance systems and asset engineering in associated markets such as aviation would also be strongly considered.
