Experienced Compliance Manager

Experienced Compliance professional required to join a highly commercial and forward thinking business. This role will support the development of a regulatory governance framework and embed a compliance –aware culture. Extensive and demonstrable experience of working within an FSA-regulated environment is essential together with outstanding stakeholder management skills.


The Duties:
• Providing accurate and robust compliance advice on the FSA Handbook, its Principles, Rules and Guidance and the FSA’s Risk-Responsive Framework to the Board and Senior Management.
• Maintaining an account-management based framework of relationships with key business stakeholders, providing regulatory advice and ensuring that compliance requirements are balanced with commercial needs.
• Drafting regulatory policy and approving business level procedures, including on-line, business and call centre sales channels.
• Providing training, advice and support to the Group’s Approved Persons and executive management.
• To help embed a compliance-aware culture across the business and improve the understanding of regulatory compliance.
• Develop a network of business contacts and capacity to draw on external expertise to solve in-house compliance problems
• Management of two direct reports.

The Person:
• Extensive and demonstrable experience of working within an FSA-regulated environment.
• Expert knowledge of FSMA and FSA Handbook and understanding of the general insurance industry
• A proven track record in developing strategies for monitoring compliance trends utilising available data on a “real time” basis.
• Experience in identifying and analysing regulatory risks and supporting the business in developing strategies to address them.
• Experience in an open and challenging and commercially driven business.
• Skill in applying regulatory knowledge to the achievement of business objectives
• Track record of achievement and delivery
• Experience in managing staff towards effective delivery of key objectives
• Highly commercial individual, with strong stake holder management skills and a proactive approach to responding to challenges and supporting the business.
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to influence at all business levels.
• Demonstrable service-oriented approach in a strongly-regulated and challenging commercially-driven environment
