Finance Director, Pension Protection Fund

PPF has created a new role of Finance Director reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. They are looking to build a new financial infrastructure with the Finance Director being instrumental in the transformation of PPF from a “start up” into a strong, stable, disciplined and professional organisation.
With pension fund performance ever increasingly in the spotlight, there has never been more focus on fund deficits. This has led to the vitally important role that the Pension Protection Fund (PPF), operational from 2005, plays to provide compensation to qualifying members.
With a balance sheet currently of around £6 billion, and the anticipation that this might grow to £15 billion by 2012, the PPF is part pension fund; part insurance company and part fund management company.
You will be a graduate qualified accountant (preferably ACA) with an impressive background of financial and commercial experience gained within a similar fast moving service sector.
In addition to experience of driving improved performance from a finance department through significant change, this individual will possess the management, communication and motivational skills to operate as a “trouble-shooter”; including providing financial advice on all business issues. The successful individual should possess an in depth Pension / Fund Accounting rules knowledge, although a proven financial services background is not a pre-requisite.
This challenging position will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to play a principal role during a challenging and critical period of the Pension Protection Fund’s development which given the current economic climate, is likely to become even more critical to many more people’s future welfare.
