 This leading property development company in Dubai requires a general manager to take responsibility for the performance of the entire organisation, including profits/losses, and the implementation of the business plan prepared by the executive director. The general manager will need to be able to lead the organisation from the front, ensuring that customers’ requirements are met and/or exceeded for all projects.
 
The role:
 ~ Assisting the executive director in preparing the organisation’s business plan, including periodic forward projections and acquiring board approval
~ Ensuring that the quality, health and safety, and environment management systems are established and maintained, and ensuring the continual improvement of all processes
~ Establishing and managing the organisation’s operating and capital expenditure budgets and ensuring that sustainable profit margins are achieved
~ Overall responsibility for resource management
~ Ensuring that KPIs are established for all functions and at all levels
~ Establishing levels of authority and delegating authority as appropriate
~ Maintaining liaison with prospective customers in order to secure new projects
~ Establishing and maintaining long-term customer relationships in order to ensure return business
~ Establishing and maintaining joint venture partnership relationships in order to enhance the organisation’s capacity and capability to undertake major projects
~ Justifying any financial losses to the board of directors and taking the necessary steps to mitigate the effects of such losses on the organisation
~ Risk analysis and management, and implementation of appropriate preventative measures
 
Requirements:
 ~ Excellent management skills
~ High-level man-management and team-motivating skills
~ Very good verbal and written communication skills
~ Good interpersonal and leadership skills
~ Experience in a similar role in a construction or general contracting company managing multiple high-rise projects at a time
~ Ideally, around 15 years of experience in a similar capacity in UAE or GCC countries
~ Applicants should have completed graduate/postgraduate studies in civil engineering
~ A masters degree in business administration/management would be an added advantage
