Head of Business Development and Marketing

We are looking for a business development professional with acute commercial acumen to drive the development of new services, products and revenue channels for our client, which represents 1400 independent, not-for-profit housing associations in England and is the voice of affordable housing.
The Commercial Services Directorate is the income generating part of the organisation. Turnover is around £4m - from conferences, training and book sales as well as additional activities such as employee satisfaction surveys, tenants’ home contents insurance and sales of mailing lists. The role of Head of Sales and Business development is key to the future success of the Directorate as it will play a key part in significantly increasing the commercial activities of the Federation resulting in a greater surplus to support the work of the organisation. The post holder will take the lead in identifying and developing new business opportunities and support them through the presentation of robust analysis and business plans. Additionally, through the Marketing team, the Head of Sales and Business Development will ensure that both existing and new business is fully supported to maximise take up and thus income generation.
This is a strategic role which requires the holder to represent our client at a senior level to our customers and stakeholders. You will lead and be a role-model for others. You must have experience of developing new products and services within a customer-facing, commercially-focused environment. You must be able to demonstrate an excellent track record of identifying and responding to business opportunities, business development and account management. You must also have experience in leading a team.
