Head of Buying

A leading retailer currently has a vacancy for a Head of Buying to join their vibrant and successful team. In order to succeed in this role you will need 1st class negotiation skills, be strong analytically, have great communication skills and experience of managing a large trading team in either food or non-food.

This role will involve:
- Strategically leading the buying function; setting clear objectives, training, coaching and developing the team
- Ensuring that the team negotiate well in order to achieve good costs and service from suppliers
- Ensuring that supplier relationships are being managed efficiently
- Analysing all relevant information and using it to improve profit margins
- Agreeing timetables for range reviews
- Building strong working relationships with the pricing team as well as the planning and product development departments
- Strategically setting marketing objectives in line with business plans
