Head of Technical Operations

Our client is a major retailer who do all of their own manufacturing as well as manufacturing for other retailers and suppliers. They are a business with a presence on every major high-street and have a very strong brand.
This role reports into an Operations Director and manages a wider team of around 60 or 70. Responsibilities are as follows:
- Coach, advise and assist the manufacturing function to maximise process performance to company standards.
- Monitor daily performance, customer requirements to ensure management and supply chain (primarily) and business quality to control food safety, people safety and customer expectations and legislation compliance.
- Formulate, agree and control capital budget and subsequent project expenditure through supply chain managers and engineering teams. This involves contact with finance director and team to control company spend.
- Regular customer liaison with retail, customers and all commercial channels to ensure the specifications are in line with their demands.
- Develop technical supply chain strategy aligned to customer need.
- Acquire, analyse and format supply chain performance data to allow process improvement and assist with management of manufacturing strategy.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a senior technical role for another major food manufacturer.
