Human Factors Consultant
Bristol or Basingstoke - South East, South West, Thames Valley
The Human Factors group offers a dynamic fast changing environment working on various military programmes such as large naval platforms, armoured vehicles and aircraft, with expansion into commercial work such as the rail industry and Human Factors research.
A Senior/Principal Human Factors Consultant is required to support the Human Factors Group in a number of programmes. Work will involve practical application of human factors theory, analysis, and design techniques to projects and research work.
RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE:
Preparation of technical reports
Face-to-face client liaison
Promotion of HF capabilities to customers and client presentations.
Production of reports, presentations and bids.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Practical application of several of the following techniques: HCI design, control room design, task analysis, workload analysis, human reliability analysis, training needs analysis, HFI in projects.
Knowledge of the practical application of appropriate HF standards.
Appropriate HCI, Ergonomics or Occupational Psychology qualifications, preferably to post-graduate level
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
Knowledge of Systems Engineering
Knowledge of Project Management / Bid Management
Experience of writing Proposals
Experience in defence projects
M Erg S, or able to achieve such (or higher) within a year
MS Office Skills
Visual Basic programming and development
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Excellent written and verbal communication/presentational skills
Excellent inter-personal skills
Self motivated individual able to work alone or as part of team
Strong report writing and presentation skills
The ability to manage own time and budget
At least 7 years experience in the practical application of Human Factors in an industry setting
Candidates must be prepared to travel across the U.K. as part of their job.
