Junior Project Manager

A major UK power generator, our client is seeking junior project managers to help deliver their current biomass projects.

In this project, they will undertake the onsite handling of biomass and injection of processed biomass into boilers. This will include a £47m phased investment to receive, process and store a range of types of biomass, extending the co-firing capacity to 10% of output (400MW) and expansion of the co-firing direct injection facility.

There will also be further capital investment in biomass processing via a rape seed crusher. The size of crusher will be dependent on the market, but will be up to 300kt pa seed capacity/£20m.

They are also evaluating other investment opportunities, for example, bioethanol and biodiesel.

They wish to augment their project delivery capability and are looking for junior project managers with experience in the energy, petrochemical or comparable sectors. You will be able to integrate the ongoing client workstreams (commercial, trading and engineering).

These projects are relatively new to both our client and the UK energy sector. They will mostly use existing, proven technology and the challenge will be integration; of the physical equipment; of the contractor interfaces; and with our client’s trading strategy. The current project team already has the appropriate procurement, legal, engineering and financial capabilities, so the target candidate should have strong management and commercial skills to coordinate and integrate the work of the project team.
