Lead Data Architect - IT Architecture
Southampton, Hampshire - South East, South Central / Coast
My client is a growth-oriented financial services business, based in Southampton, Hampshire. We are looking to recruit a permanent Lead Data Architect to define, manage, implement and evangelise a corporate data model, data standards and policies.
The successful person will have direct experience managing the strategic architecture function, including: having a vision, understanding the "as-is", defining the strategy and defining the "to-be" estate & roadmaps; and strong demonstrable technology expertise which is highly solution focused.
Salary: £70k - £80k basic

Main Responsibilities
• To be the trusted source of strategic technology expertise and pro-actively provide technology leadership and guidance to business areas in their strategic planning and project development lifecycle, and also to project teams and 3rd party suppliers.
• To operate the technology governance framework to assess all projects and initiatives for ‘fit’ against the technology strategy, architecture and policies, working to resolve non-conformance with the project.
• To liaise and interface with business, business architects and business analysts to ensure that the technology strategy and architecture supports future business strategy and requirements.
• To manage a team within Architecture, including day-to-day team management, objective setting, work allocation, planning and mentoring of staff.
• To project manage the processes required to support the architecture function.
Skills & Knowledge
• Significant breadth of technical and strategic understanding in the Data architecture field.
• In depth knowledge of at least two specific domains within the Data area (e.g. Corporate Data Modelling, ERDs & Placement, Logical Modelling).
• Evidenced practice of the development and maintenance of IT architecture and IT strategy, with applied understanding at an enterprise level of data architecture.
• Proven track record within a wide variety of IT functions, including systems analysis, development and project management.
• Proven track record of defining solution architectures for large and small developments.
• Understanding of industry best practice and trends together with their application within a business context.
• Educated to degree standard or equivalent
• Knowledge and understanding of business strategy and planning, financial analysis, marketing and operational processes.
• Broad knowledge of the financial services industry and key regulatory requirements together with an understanding of business processes is desired but not essential.
