This company is a major player in the defence manufacturing industry. The products they manufacture are critical for first line defence services and public safety requirements. Due to recent restructuring and business improvement, they are currently recruiting for a Lead Engineer to join their growing facility on the Dorset coast.

Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer:
+ Co-ordinate projects on a day-to-day basis as directed
+ Organise resources and allocate work activities of staff
+ Formulate plans and preparation of requirements for technical programmes
+ Control the design status of projects through documentation and configuration control procedures
+ Ensure all new products are fit for purpose

Skills and Experience required for the Lead Engineer role:
+ Degree educated or with equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, such as Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
+ A sound appreciation of Mechanical and Electronic systems and principles
+ Previous responsibility for a product or product range from cradle to grave
+ Experience of being design responsibility on technical projects
+ A solid understanding of the UK Defence industry
+ Ability to build solid relationships with key counterparts
+ Team leadership experience in an engineering environment
