Legal I.T Solutions Designer

Job Title: Solutions Designer, Practice Management & International (PM&I)
Duration: 3 months initially
Travel: Occasional
Start date: ASAP

The Solutions Designer will lead the “Reuse - Buy - Build” debate for projects in this sub-programme, delivering Design documentation and fulfilled the Lead Technical role on the project where appropriate.

The successful candidate will work with the Theme Lead, Project Managers, Technical Architecture, Business Analysts and other IT SMEs.

You will need to have:

* Understanding of the IT Solutions Marketplace that supply these business areas; including detailed technical appreciation of the solutions, their roadmaps, consultancies and any relevant industry reports/research.

* Understanding of the IT Strategy (including any internal/external standards and best practice) and Architecture (Data Centre, IT Infrastructure).

Required Skills and Experience:

Strong technical background; Developers, Designers, Architects etc.Experience of the legal IT Industry (or other professional services), ideally including knowledge of Thompson Elite, Time Recording/Billing, Back Office systems, Finance Departments.
Good understanding of IT solutions across programmes; infrastructure & applicationsExperience of Development Methodologies: Waterfall, Agile
Excellent 3rd party relationship management; solution providers, consultanciesExperience using Case Tools/Visio
Experience of system modelling/design (ideally UML)Experience of Project Management methodologies (ideally PRINCE 2)
Excellent documentation skills (specifications, proposals, reports)Experience as Technical Lead on IT Projects, as well as applying standards/design principles
