Our client is a general contracting company, part of a blue-chip construction group in the UAE. The Managing Director is sought to take responsibility for the performance of the entire organisation, including full P&L. The ideal person will implement the business plan, which is prepared by the executive director. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leading the organisation from the front, ensuring that customers’ requirements are met and exceeded on all projects.
 
The role:
 
Assist the executive director to prepare the organisation business plan, with periodic forward projections, and acquire board approval
Ensure that the quality, health & safety and environment management systems are established and maintained, and continually improve all processes
Establish and manage the organisation’s operating and capital expenditure budgets and ensure that sustainable profit margins are achieved
Overall management of the resources of the organisation
Ensure that KPIs are established for all functions and at all levels, as the measure of performance
Establish levels of authority, and delegate, as appropriate
Maintain continual liaison with prospective customers in order to secure new projects
Maintain good relationships with customers and establish long-term interaction to ensure return business
Establish and maintain joint-venture partnerships to enhance the organisational capacity and capability for mega projects
Justify financial losses to the board of directors, and take the necessary steps to mitigate their effects on the organisation
Risk analysis and management, and introduce appropriate preventative measures
 
Requirements:
 
A graduate or postgraduate in civil engineering
A master’s degree in business administration/management would be an advantage
Excellent management skills
A highly skilled man-manager, adept at motivating the team
A very good communicator, both verbal and in written correspondence
Good interpersonal and leadership skills
Must have managed multiple high-rise projects simultaneously for a construction or general contracting company
An ideal match would be a person with around 15 years of experience in a similar capacity in UAE or GCC countries
