Managing Director
Cambridgeshire - East Anglia
Our client is a well established, mid sized, high technology organisation. They require an experienced Managing Director to join their team.
The function of the Managing Director role will be to take responsibility for strategic planning, opportunity development and product line design and development from concept definition through full lifecycle support. This position is responsible as a P&L for meeting financial and sales objectives including sales, operating income, free cash flow, gross margin, new account penetration (Design Wins), Bookings, Product Quality, Product and Technical Development, On-Time-Delivery, and Customer/Employee Satisfaction.
The day to day responsibilities of the MD are as follows:
+Full management responsibility for all business operations. Immediate task will be to assume control of the business; familiarize himself with the company, its activities, current strategy, plans and policies.
+Review current strategies and operating plans and agree the immediate and longer-term courses of action to be pursued. Take the lead in developing strategies to produce growth for the year 2009 and beyond.
+Ensure tight control is maintained over business performance and that operating management responds quickly and effectively to any problems or adverse trends.
+Take a lead role in identifying and developing new business opportunities and core areas for growth.
+Full responsibility for P&L and program performance.
+Represents the corporation as the site and product line authority.
+Direct the management of product and technology development including the management of engineering R & D and marketing resources.
+Responsible for supporting R&D and NRE proposal development.
The Managing Director will have the following key skills and experience:
+Seasoned professional with demonstrated leadership experience.
+Track record of producing results, meeting financial targets and leading product development teams.
+Detailed knowledge of embedded computing systems architecture, hardware, software and related support requirements in the military/aerospace industry
+Entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and sense of urgency.
+Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop effective working relationships.
+Strong collaboration and partnership skills with experience working across business groups.
+Able to articulate a vision. Has enormous energy and the ability to lead, energize, motivate and inspire.
Qualifications/Experience Required
+Advanced degree in Business Management, Marketing or equivalent would be advantageous
+Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent)
Software, hardware or systems engineering experience, preferably in a Senior Management role
