H.C. Starck Fabricated Products is an International company and a leading worldwide supplier of engineered solutions for a range of sectors including Aerospace, Medical Power-semiconductor, Defense, semiconductor and other industries. Starck makes parts and components from a number of exotic metals such as molybdenum, tungsten, tantalum and others. The UK subsidiary has a turnover of €15m and whilst profitable there is real scope to make improvements to the bottom line and operational performance of the site.

Reporting to the Global Chief Operating Officer, the person appointed will have profit and loss responsibility for the operation and be responsible for functions across operations, supply chain, engineering, quality, maintenance and health and safety. The Managing Director will have the task of developing and leading a world class operation across all areas of the site, designed to deliver business advantage and improve its competitive position as well as quality and service.

A graduate with a degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, you must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in improving manufacturing and supply chain performance in a world class environment. Highly effective as a leader of cross-functional teams you should possess strong motivational and influencing skills, essential in driving process and cultural change. Commercially and financially aware you must also have extensive experience of successfully implementing lean manufacturing and six sigma initiatives.

This is a first class opportunity to run a stand-alone manufacturing operation and as well as attracting experienced General Managers, it may appeal to talented Operations Directors seeking their first business leadership role.
