Manufacturing Manager
Kent - South Central / Coast
THE OPPORTUNITY: Manufacturing Manager reporting to the Factory General Manager in a challenging highly automated food manufacturing factory. The successful candidate should have the drive and aspiration to become factory general manager within two years.
THE LOCATION: Kent
THE PACKAGE: £70K + final salary pension + car + profit related bonus
THE ROLE: The successful candidate will join the leadership team at a large food manufacturing plant operating in a highly competitive market supplying both own label and branded sectors playing a key role in driving manufacturing performance by the following means:
• Driving factory activity to ensure performance versus KPI targets are met or exceeded in respect of safety, materials, labour, uptime, mechanical downtime, attendance and service.
• Working with Supply Chain to ensure excellent customer and flexibility.
• Training and Development of the departmental personnel.
• Working as part of the site Management Team co-coordinating and implementing medium- to long-term strategy.
• Inspiring and motivating team to exceed factory KPIs within an environment that promotes trust and passion for performance; sustaining and growing engagement via regular and two way employee communications programmes, training and development.
• Managing controllable indirect/overheads within budgets.
• Managing performance within the team via regular & effective objective setting, review, appraisal & coaching
• Delivering continuous improvement programmes.
• Effective and cost efficient maintenance.
• Understanding, challenging and seeking to improve on industry best practice driving a continuous improvement philosophy within the brand and customer products.
• Proactively shaping and managing structure, culture and behavioural values to ensure that the factory is well placed to respond to current, and future, market demands and opportunities.
THE PERSON:
• A self-motivated, resilient, robust character ideally with a strong background gained in food manufacture and experience of working within a unionised environment.
• A good people manager with the strength of character to bring the team together, leading by example and encouraging success through an infectious drive to deliver the key objectives of the role in good spirit.
• A confident communicator capable of driving improvement activities within own team and across site with a track record of performance delivery.
• Capable of prioritising and delegating activities to ensure maximisation of available resources with proven ability to implement strategic objectives in a methodical way.
• Degree qualified or equivalent with at least 5years manufacturing operations management experience in FMCG ideally food manufacture.
• HACCP trained to certification standard with food hygiene and IOSHH qualifications.
