My client is a large conglomerate with multinational operations. One of their businesses has a successful operation supplying the mobile telephone industry in West Africa and now requires a new MD to manage the entity.
The MD will be responsible for the business from a strategic as well as an operational perspective.
The appointment will be for a 36 month period, with the potential to extend.
Responsibilities:
Strategic input to ensure that the company is well positioned to meet the growing needs of the business as well as effectively maintain its dominant position in the local market
Build a unified company through leadership
Identify and create new business opportunities within the existing core business
Ensure that the company is well positioned in terms of meeting the needs and aspirations of customers in a dynamic and changing marketplace
Achieve targeted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) and objectives
Ongoing development and enhancement of a strong customer service focus and ensuring that customer service objectives are consistently achieved
Manage relationships between all the shareholders
Ensure world-class governance and regulatory compliance
Effectively lead and motivate a professional, respected and dynamic team
Required skills & experience:
Formal technical qualification e.g. IT degree or Electronic Engineering combined with software experience
Passion for communications technology
Five yrs+ operations related experience from the telecoms sector
Senior Executive experience
Strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills
Commercially astute
Prior expat experience
