Operations Manager (chilled food)
Northamptonshire - Midlands (East)
PLEASE NOTE ONLY APPLICANTS WITH CURRENT CHILLED FOOD MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
Our client is a chilled food manufacturer, part of a multi-million pound operation with sites throughout the UK and Europe. An opportunity has arisen for two Operations Managers to join their Northampton site. This site is enjoying on-going success and is undergoing considerable change as a result of their continued success. A process of restructure has now resulted in the need for additional high-calibre Managers to join the current teams.
Your accountability will be comprehensive, as you would expect and will therefore encompass all operational issues, namely productivity, quality, health & safety and cost control-performance. Bearing this in mind, at every stage of the recruitment process you will need to provide strong examples your people-management skills as well as tangible evidence of your key achievements.
You will manage a business unit which consists of 3 lines, operating a 24-hour production cycle with a team of c150 operatives. The site operates a 4-on/4-off shift pattern. Initially, there is an expectation that the Operations Manager will similarly work this shift pattern, 7am-7pm. However, this might change over time. It is therefore imperative that candidates wishing to apply for this post are aware of this as they may need to be flexible in this respect.
The company are proud of their solid operational foundations, but are also driven by a robust focus on lean manufacturing – a programme which will be central to this role. Therefore to be considered for this position you MUST be able to demonstrate that your experience includes the delivery of sustainable change, particularly through influencing those around you. Your knowledge and application of lean manufacturing tools and techniques will have played a significant part in this.
Your operational skills will have been achieved specifically within food manufacture. This is a pre-requisite.
Over and above your practical experience, your personal qualities and core values will also form an integral part of our clients' selection criteria. In this respect you will also need to demonstrate the following:
¨ A genuine desire for personal development and growth.
¨ An absolute passion for food manufacture.
¨ A willingness and ability to adopt new concepts.
¨ A keen aptitude to influence others, at all levels.
¨ Accountability.
¨ Determination and a can-do attitude.
¨ Integrity and respect.
