Rare opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join a highly successful manufacturing company and be part of it's continued growth.

Excellent remuneration package. Based - Dumfries and Galloway

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Define, implement and maintain a cost effective and appropriate operating model, operating standards and principles across the business to maximise productivity, sharing of best practice and commercial benefit.

· Ensure that the business has the necessary manpower, competence, skills, knowledge and tooling required in order to achieve production targets in accordance with customer requirements.

· Ensure production processes, equipment, facilities and the working environment are all conductive to producing high quality products.

· Ensure non value added activity is reduced in all manufacturing processes by using lean/kaizen techniques, and to implement manufacturing improvement processes and systems to reduce inventory, increase throughout and minimise costs.

· Maintain proactive, dynamic and effective communication with customers and customer service managers at all times.

· Promote and maintain awareness and compliance of Health and Safety in accordance with best practice and legal requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE:

· Third level qualification in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience.

· Relevant industry and operational knowledge and experience obtained in a management position in a manufacturing environment..

· An understanding and knowledge of the principles and tools of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

· An understanding and knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 and GMP)

· An understanding and knowledge of plant and process equipment involved in the creation of chemical products, and of health and safety best practice and legislation.

KEY SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES / CORE COMPETENCIES:

· An aptitude for science, engineering and manufacturing technology.

· Effective computing, literacy and numeracy skills

· Close and accurate attention to detail

· Ability to work effectively with staff in both scientific and non-scientific positions

· Ability to build a high performance team who can operate efficiently, effectively, productively and cost effectively.

· Possess the ability to implement and manage change in the business.

· An ability to multitask, without feeling pressured, to ensure deadlines are met.

· Effective and efficient time management, with the ability to assess and analyse that project progress is in-line with set projections
