Operations Manager/Electrical & Instrumentation

The successful candidate will participate in activities related to the planning, design, building, maintenance, switching and control of the electrical distribution and transmission systems.

You will analyze the marketplace and competition and understand an organizations strengths and weaknesses to identify external threats and opportunities.

You will adapt strategy to changing conditions by overcoming resistance and supporting those affected by change and will implement strategic business objectives, strategies and plans in support of the companies strategic goals.

You will manage and allocate financial and employee resources and be responsible for the establishment and adherence to the department budget.

You will promote safety in the workplace through demonstrated leadership and you will ensure that a zero accident workplace message is delivered in a convincing manner on a regular basis.

You will interview hire, train, coach, & develop employees & implement more efficient ways to perform the job. You will respond to after-hour emergencies relating to the electrical system with both distribution & transmission activities/workload.

You will manage schedules & complete the annual substation maintenance plan &/or capital work & perform inspections & field audits of the substation maintenance &/or capital work performed.

Knowledge and Skills:

An accomplished Electrical or Instrumentation Engineer with much of your experience gained in the oil & gas sector, preferably within multi national contracting companies & in projects.

Your core experience should be in Construction / EPC related to electrical & instrumentation & should have handled E & I projects of at least US $25 Million independently.

You should have an excellent knowledge of electrical system construction, operation & maintenance practices. Your practical experience should be supported by a Bachelors Degree or the equivalent combination of education & experience in the electric utility or a related industry.

You must be flexible and available in responding to after-hour emergencies under short notice on any given day, at any given time. This includes responding to emergencies outside of normal work shift.

You will PC/IT literate & possess proficiency with computer applications incl word processing, spreadsheets & mainframe applications.

You will have the ability to conduct business & work with employees while understanding that information acquired in this position is confidential in all communications both internal & external.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English & ideally speak one other language.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment. Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence.
