OTC Derivatives MO Analyst/ Manager
The City - London
My client is an international asset management company based in the City, London. We are looking to recruit an OTC Derivatives MO Analyst/ Manager on a contract basis.
Contract duration: 6 months
Salary: £500/ day
The Team
The Derivatives Middle Office (DMO) is responsible for processing of derivative instruments and the specialist processing required for supporting complex products where it is not (yet) appropriate to outsource these functions. DMO also has responsibility for aiding accurate reporting and valuation of the hedge funds by reviewing and performing fund reconciliations to ensure they are being carried out regularly and competently.
The Role
• To ensure that fund managers of 130/30 funds and Hedge funds are being provided with accurate information for their decision making.
• Middle office support for 130/30 funds.
• Ensuring Hedge Fund reconciliations are being done regularly and effectively.
Main Responsibilities
130/30 funds
• Develop systems, spreadsheets and procedures to provide competent middle office support for new and existing 130/30 funds.
• Develop effective working relationships with Prime Brokers, Fund Administrators, Fund Managers, Traders, IT, Service Delivery and Hedge Fund Oversight (HFO).
• Take direct action to improve and maintain the standard of service provided to the company by the Prime Brokers and Fund Administrators.
• Work with Service Delivery and IT to assist in the launch of new products and funds.
• Participate in UAT (user acceptance testing) of new systems and processes.
Hedge funds reconciliations review
• Review hedge fund reconciliations on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Develop effective MI (Management Information) reports to ensure that problem issues are highlighted and are visible to the management in a way that reduces the level of supervision above
• Liaise with the Fund Administrator Alternative Operations Team to ensure that company requirements are being met and reconciliations reporting is produced to a high standard.
• Manage Fund Managers, Supplier and HFO to ensure all breaks are resolved within reasonable timescales.
Skills & Knowledge
• Good hands on knowledge of investment operations and fund accounting including hedge funds, derivatives and fund pricing.
• Broad business knowledge across the remaining investment management value chain covering front office, systems, compliance and governance.
• Prior experience of outsourced service relationships within a structured oversight and relationship framework.
• Relevant industry qualifications such as IAQ, IMC, CIMA, ACCA.
