Planning Manager
Cambridge - East Anglia
Our client is a highly prestigious Ambient food manufacturer, seeking an experienced Planning Manager for one of their prime locations in Cambridgeshire.
The Planning Manager can probably best be described as a senior operations planner capable of managing not only the daily functional requirements of site planning, but also adept at managing the longer term functional output to address the strategic interface of operational planning within the business.
It is vitally important that the Planning Manager not only understands the intrinsic relationship between service levels and working capital, but is capable of developing/recommending robust improvement initiatives to address deteriorating working capital metrics. They will have a number of direct reports, i.e. advanced schedulers reporting into this role. The Planning Manager must without any doubt be a candidate with thorough practical knowledge of Advanced Planning and Advanced Scheduling applications as this is a demanding aspect of the role. In this respect they will need to be capable of devising, measuring and communicating adherence to plan, including monitoring medium to long-term plans and ensuring that both the impact and opportunities of medium-term capacity limitations are accurately represented.
The Planning Manager will be responsible for maintaining a collaborative interface with material scheduling ensuring that the planning function offers accountability for input in terms of material requirements planning. They will support initiatives for improving the accuracy of assets/production against forecasts whilst also promoting a continuous improvement approach to reduce variance in demand/stock year on year.
Over and above this, if candidates have additional experience of working closely with Manufacturing and Engineering, this would be an advantage although not a pre-requisite for the role. Furthermore, a sound understanding of MRP/ERP systems this would be beneficial.
The planning function works closely with the material scheduling area of the business and also warehousing.
Whilst planning is at the heart of this role, it is a complex post akin to supply chain management.
To be successful in this post your experience of planning and supply chain will need to be specifically within food/drink manufacture.
