Principal Mechanical Engineer

Recently opened an office in Lagos, Nigeria & looking for a Principal Mechanical Emgineer.

You will be responsible for the design, specification, selection & services relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, fired & unfired heat transfer equipment, utility equipment, packaged units, material handling & solids processing systems.

This may include the design, specification, selection & services of mechanical systems for buildings such as gases, fluids, & heating, ventilating, air conditioning & vertical transportation.
Under general supervision, you will independently apply advanced engineering techniques, make decisions on engineering problems & methods, & represent the organization in conferences to resolve important questions or to negotiate with key engineers & officials of other organizations.

You will provide technical guidance to designers & less experienced engineers.

You will plan, budget, organize, coordinate & control the project & be responsible for employee performance appraisals & for coaching & developing lower level professionals.

Knowledge and Skills:

An accomplished Mechanical Engineer with a degree in Engineering supported by substantial experience & some Professional qualifications e.g. Chartered status. At this level, you will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, & mature engineering judgment in anticipating & solving engineering problems efficiently & economically.

The role requires the use of advanced techniques & modification & extension of theories, precepts, & practices of the field & related disciplines. You may have contributed to inventions, patents, & new designs or techniques which are regarded as major advances, or which significantly reduce professional services hours on projects.

You are almost certain to have been responsible for leadership of a functional area on a small to medium project or a segment of a larger project.

Should have experience of working on oil field, petrochemical, or oil & gas handling projects & a thorough knowledge of oil field engineering & construction methods incl its practice & procedures.

Need a Drivers Licence & proficient in Microsoft Office skills.

Contracts will be awarded up to a max of 3 years. Salaries will be negotiable depending upon experience & skill set. An Ex-Pats package will be available, it is envisaged that the leave rota will be 8 weeks on & 2 weeks off.
