This is a genuinely rare opportunity for an experienced and ambitious project design engineer to make a real impact in a highly successful, specialist offshore drilling & construction business at a critical stage in its evolution. An autonomous subsidiary of a major word-wide group it is already a global market leader with around 300 employees, £60m turnover and firm plans to double over the next 5 years.
A pivotal member of a strong engineering function and leading highly skilled project design teams, you will be responsible for the manufacture of major drilling rigs, power units and bespoke operating equipment from concept and calculation through to fabrication, commissioning and on-site installation together with ongoing in-life support as required. A strong people and project manager, you must be able to liaise and influence at senior levels, helping shape technical solutions and future engineering strategies
Degree / HND qualified, you will be no stranger to the design and build management of bespoke heavy purpose plant & equipment – probably for marine, quarrying, agricultural, tunnelling or construction applications – this challenging and broad-ranging role calls for a hands-on, pragmatic team player with strong CAD skills (ideally Solidworks & Autodesk) and a flair for design & engineering excellence as well as the ability to make things happen on the shop floor.
