Project Director - Telecoms - Europe
Germany - Germany
Our client, the services arm of a blue chip telecoms company, needs several experienced Project Directors to deliver major, high value projects. As the project director, you will be providing total solutions using unique approaches to each project.
As this role will be client facing, you will need excellent relationship building skills and be comfortable working in pre-sales and business development.
You will be expected to:
• Build a relationship with the client such that you are seen as the partner of choice
• Through a clear understanding of the customer’s strategic aims, help build new business and seize new opportunities
• Ensure project performance exceeds the customer’s expectations
• Take accountability for overall project performance
• Deliver the commercial outcomes required from the project
• Conduct stakeholder analysis and provide the interface with all stakeholders
• Manage customer expectations both stated and unstated
• Manage contract variations
• Plan, allocate and manage budgets and P&L
• Monitor cash flow and give forewarning of any deviations from budget
• Provide tender support for estimating and bid process
• Ensure all project variations are agreed, documented and managed
• Incorporate change management methodology as required
• Model leadership behaviour and act as a mentor to project managers to help build team effectiveness, morale and productivity
• Establish strong working relationships with suppliers and other third parties so that partnerships are built which expand the company’s project delivery capability
The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong consulting experience preferably with one of the big consultancies, e.g. Accenture, CSC, Cap Gemini
• Strong commercial experience
• Experience of working internationally and with multi-cultural teams
• A track record of managing internal and external supply teams
• Experience of planning large programmes of work involving several technical delivery teams
• Track record of delivering business benefits
• The ability to define stakeholders and align expectations across various client organisations
You will be expected to work in partnership with the client to deliver project benefits and will need a good understanding not only of technical delivery but also the commercial drivers behind the technology.
You will be an enthusiastic and energetic self-starter who is keen to make an impact and help move this business onto the next level.
