Project Manager
Midlands - Midlands (East)
Project Manager: Distribution - £400 to £500 per day plus Expenses, based in the Midlands.
Outline
Our client is a leading parcel distribution organisation that has a highly successful domestic and international operation. Due to recent contract wins and internal recommendations, there have been a series of business changes to assist our client in providing a clear and measurable level of service for both their new and existing clients.
With large investments in IT, engineering, operations and customer service, a project manager is now required to join the existing in-house team and undertake a business case review centred on weight and delivery machinery.
The Role
You will be responsible for conducting from scratch a business case for the review and potential upgrade of existing weighing and delivery equipment. Working across the country in 30 or more depots, you will undertake a day-to-day review of existing operations and conduct a market feasibility report for our client to advise whether existing machinery is fit for purpose or new equipment is required on a national basis.
Should the outcome of the business case require an overhaul of all weighing / scanning machinery, you will be charged with defining a strategy and implementing it across the organisation.
The candidate will be working with inter-functional teams ranging from operations, IT, sales, credit control, billing and engineering and therefore, you must have previous experience of working in roles which have required cross role dependence.
The candidate
Prince2 qualified, the successful candidate will have worked on several previous assignments, ideally in a distribution / logistics based environment. You must have led a project from initiation to implementation, covering the defining of the strategy, project plan and outline and then the delivery of the change.
You must have both excellent communication key stakeholder management skills as this role reports to a board-level director. The project will ultimately deliver multi-million pound financial benefits for the client from a potential upgrade to the machinery and therefore you must have a track record of successful change.
