One of Europe's most successful engineering companies with a growing presence in the UK rail sector is expanding from the ground up with the appointment of a senior Project Manager.
A major £30m programme to deliver an advanced fare collection system to a regional train operator will be your starting point combined with a requirement to create and implement a new Project Management infrastructure for the business as a whole.
The other key areas of responsibility for the the Project Manager are;
+ Customer management – as a front-line representative to ensure customer concerns and queries are addressed timely;
+ Commercial management – develop thorough contractual understanding of existing supply/maintenance contracts and general contractual requirements;
+ Technical management – develop thorough technical knowledge of automatic fare collection/ ticketing technology and understanding of capabilities;
+ Financial management – develop understanding of revenue model; monitor and manage project budgets; interface with accounts department to prepare and submit invoices when due;
+ Construction/Installation management – ensure products are scheduled for manufacture in factory and delivered to the Customer when needed; supervise and co-ordinate site construction, supervise and manage necessary subcontractors for installation and commissioning activities;
Health & Safety (Reporting to Health & Safety Manager)
+ Manage the Maintenance of Health & Safety Plans to ensure they are current and relevant.
+ Manage the preparation of Method Statements.
+ Ensure Access and Work Permits for Field Service team are current and relevant.
The ideal attributes of the Project Manager are listed:
+ Significant experience in setting up a Project Management infrastructure
+ Seasoned professional with experience of full lifecycle programme management (design / manufacture / installation / support) with an electronics background
+ Experience of bid management and variation generation, estimating, budgeting and negotiation
+ Experience of monthly project turnover and margin forecasting with the ability to implement (at an appropriate level) a cost measurement and control system for UK projects
+ PRINCE 2 approach
+ Able to travel as necessary to manage projects UK wide
+ Strong team building ability, with a ‘completer/finisher' bias, used to taking a considered approach to problems whilst acting urgently when the need arises
+ Control of project values of £5m+ project durations typically 12 – 18months with direct responsibility for teams of 10-20 people
+ UK Rail experience with either safety related equipment (as experience of formal design methods), communications systems or retail systems
