Project Manager - Automotive Engineering


We are seeking a Site Operations/ Project Manager to lead key automotive on-site contracts for one of the world's leading independent consultants of simulation and testing technology of automotive powertrain systems .


Site based - Essex - commutable from Basildon, Brentwood, Romford, Southend-on-Sea, Enfield, Chelmsford, Harlow, Cheshunt

The Candidate


Reporting to the Senior Site Manager the Project Manager will oversee powertrain testbed activities for a leading vehicle manufacturer.



* Our ideal candidate will have formal training in project management .

* Practical, hands-on experience of site operations management is preferred.

* You will have proven, practical, wide-ranging experience within the automotive industry.

* A strong bias towards electrical / electronic engineering is ideal.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must for this role, as is the ability to work on your own initiative and be self-motivating.

* A full UK driving licence is required (a small amount of travel involved to our clients Midlands office and occasionally other customer sites)


The Role



* Manage all aspects of a key customers contracts ensuring they are completed on time, to specification and in budget .

* Maintain control over company and sub-contract project activities on-site , paying particular attention to safety and quality .

* Develop project management controls including costs and planning.

* Maintain and develop good working practices and relationships with sub-contractors.

* Provide expertise and knowledge regarding local suppliers and contractors.

* Provide regular progress reports to senior management.

* Develop and encourage successful working relationships with colleagues and customer staff.

* Assist Business Manager's, where required, in the process of quoting for new contracts.

* Attend and contribute to project management meetings .
