Our Client is part of a rapidly expanding, $multi-million business, involved in the manufacture of container sealing products and lining materials for the food and beverage sectors. This high technology and innovative business supports an impressive portfolio of global customers, providing exceptional levels of responsiveness and flexibility to ensure unrivalled levels of customer service.

As a result of the company’s phenomenal success and continuing growth in Europe, this newly created role will assume responsibility for the strategic development of the European purchasing function in order to maximise financial performance and improve purchasing power.

Reporting to the Executive VP and Global VP of Purchasing, you will control a purchasing spend, expected to rise to in excess of €30m p.a., assuming personal responsibility for all raw material categories (e.g. aluminium, resins and polymers, foams etc), negotiating and managing contracts with an emphasis on risk management, quality, service and continuous improvement. You will lead and mentor a small but growing purchasing and inventory control team, developing best practice procedures, including the introduction of KPI’s and review of existing contracts.

Ideally qualified to Degree level with formal purchasing qualifications (CIPS) you will have significant strategic purchasing management experience, gained in a packaging or related manufacturing environment. You must be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge in commodity risk management, preferably on a European basis, with excellent negotiation and contract development ability. This will be supported by proven leadership and communication skills and the ability to create world class supply chain solutions. An in-depth understanding of MRP/ERP systems is essential. Whilst not essential, candidates with a second European language, ideally German, would be of particular interest.
