Reporting to the Operations and Supply Chain Director, this role will focus on the implementation of cost reductions through supplier quality development and overall strategic sourcing initiatives. Its ultimate purpose is to therefore develop and drive the specific category purchasing function for future success. This is a senior role within the management team, and is pivotal to the ongoing success of the business. The main responsibilities include managing, coaching, leading and developing a team of buyers and the Supplier Quality Assurance team, building RFQs and conducting competitive tendering, leading major supplier negotiations, establishing supplier contracts and SLA's and the continuous improvement of those relationships, with the focus on performance management and the delivery of quality and planning metrics. The position is also responsible for strategic sourcing from suppliers globally, especially the Far East.
Of graduate calibre, and preferably CIPS qualified the successful candidate will possess solid, demonstrable overall experience of supply chain activity, purchasing experience in a related sector, including Far East sourcing, leading significant spend. You will have excellent organisational, numerical and negotiation skills and supplier development experience. This individual will be able to accept demanding goals, create innovative solutions to a range of problems seeking opportunities for continuous improvement, analyse and evaluate data, making rational judgments. You will be a strong negotiator, with the ability to gain clear agreement and commitment from others. Decision making will be key in this role which may involve tough choices or considered risks. You will take responsibility for projects and actions, working under own initiative whilst focusing on customer needs and satisfaction by setting high quality standards. You will be able to rise to tough challenges using initiative, personality, communication and consultation. A strong time manager, planning activities and projects well in advance, the successful candidates ability to identify and organise resources, needed to accomplish tasks, will underpin everything.
